ESTATE HISTORY

In Medoc dialect "barrail" or "barralhe" refers to a bank of land marking the boundary of personal property. The small hillocks of Chateau Les Barraillots divide the property from the surrounding plots of cru classes. Les Barraillots is a rare "Cru Artisan" to have its vineyard in the village of Margaux itself. The vineyard was obtained from Palmer and Durfort in 1928 and 1933. It is made up of permeable gravel and is situated among the highest elevations in the commune.

TERROIR

Surface: 7 hectares
Soil: gravel

VITICULTURE

In compliance with traditional cultivation methods, the vineyard is fully plowed and not chemically weeded.

WINEMAKING

Harvesting is done manually and the wine is aged in barrels (a third new) for eighteen months.

TASTING & FOOD PAIRINGS

Great value with plenty of classic Margaux perfume of violets, spice, and fresh cherry. Soft and complex in the mouth and closing with soft, ripe, tannin.

Pairs equally well with almost any grilled, braised or roasted meat ranging from beef, veal, pork, duck, pigeon, squab, and game. Perfect with roasted chicken, mushrooms, truffles, or other earthy dishes.
