ESTATE FAMILY

Many vineyards have rich and varied histories, but not many have the long legacy of Château du Basty. Quentin Perroud, the manager at Château du Basty, is the 17th generation to run the property and its vineyards. The excellent wines created at the Château have won multiple awards.

TERROIR

The 44-acre estate, situated in an idyllic location on the east and south facing slopes of the Saône Valley in the Beaujolais region of southern Burgundy, is currently celebrating its 537th year.

The 18-hectare vineyard is spread over the communes of Lantignié, Régnié and Villié Morgon at an average altitude (400 meters). Oriented to the East and the South, the position is particularly favorable to a complete maturity of the grape, optimal condition for obtaining harmonious and balanced wines. The soil is granitic, dry and stony according to the lots.

VITICULTURE

The Basty has constantly evolve, constantly and permanently. The Château is in conversion to organic farming.

WINEMAKING

The maturation of this vintage intends to be noticed with measure and refinement. It knocks at the door and presents itself with references in its most beautiful finery. Its letters of recommendation are serious and demand attention.

TASTING & FOOD PAIRINGS

The mouth is pulpy and greedy. It lets out of the neck its curves which do not fail to seduce the taster. But seduced as he is by the naughty cuvée, he willingly allows himself to be tamed by a freshness passing by. Falsely simpering, it brings balance to the whole. The fine and delicate touch contributes with good grace to bring nobility to our Chardonnay.

The final takes its ease. It holds the taster like one holds his conquest in order not to let it go too hastily. Thus, it stretches and brings out charms with finesse, freshness and saline minerality. A floral and grapefruit accent will leave on the lips of the conquered the memory of a delicious tasting.

Best paired with aged Gouda, Aioli or Allioli (French Sauce made of Garlic, Olive Oil and Egg), Fried Chicken, Grilled Chicken, Grilled Young Cockerels, Andouillette (French Sausage made with Tripe or Chitterlings).
