ESTATE HISTORY
The Guicciardini Family
Since 1200 the Guicciardini , one of the most ancient Florentine families, held a prominent position in the social, political and commercial life of Florence.
Piero G. was named “Conte Palatino” by the Emperor Sigismund of Luxembourg in 1416. The Guicciardini took part in the public life of Florence contributing 44 “priori”, 16 “gonfalonieri di giustizia” and 12 senators.
The most famous member of our family is the Historian Francesco Guicciardini (1483-1540) who , after having been entrusted with important appointments by the Medicis (Ambassador to Spain , Governor of Modena and Reggio , Head of the Cognac league) , retired to Florence and Poppiano where he wrote a part of his masterpiece “Historia d’ Italia”.
TERROIR
Belvedere Campòli estate lies in one of the most prestigious areas of Chianti Classico, on the hills ridge between Montefiridolfi and Mercatale at 400 meters elevation: it’s the Guicciardini family little new jewel its Exposure and generous soils , are the precondition for renowed great wines.
WINEMAKING
Fermentation in stainless steel and cement vats and aging in tonneaux for 12 months
Alcohol: 14.5 % Vol.
TASTING & FOOD PAIRINGS
Deep ruby colour, fruity notes with typical red fruits and delicate aromatic herbs notes. Hints of cherryes and raspberries. Fresh, intense and juicy in the mouth, elegant and balanced tannins. Long and complex final.
Pairs well with grilled, roasted and stewed red and white meats.
