ESTATE HISTORY

This is a small 10 hectare property in Lalande-de-Pomerol. In 1973 Paul Figeac bought a 5 hectare neglected vineyard. His daughter married a vigneron, Pierre Bourotte who enlarged the property with a suitable plot on the Chevrol plateau in Néac. The Bourotte family are also the owners of Clos du Clocher, Bonalgue and Monregard La Croix all in Pomerol and du Courlat in Lussac-St-Emilion.

TERROIR

Surface: 10 hectares
Soils: Clayey-gravelly on a sandy-subsoil and sandy-silty
Two third of the 10 hectares are located in the district of Neac on the plateau of Chevrol, the remainder is located in Lalande de Pomerol in the locality of "La Commanderie".

VITICULTURE

Eco-friendly integrated agriculture. Estate engaged in a global environmental strategy.

WINEMAKING

Fermentation and maceration in thermo regulated stainless steel vats parcel by parcel. Maceration of about 4-5 weeks. After maceration and racking, a selection of the vats is done with the collaboration of Christian Veyry from the team of Michel Rolland. For the great wine of Cht Les Hauts Conseillants, only the best vats are kept, the remainder goes into the second wine: Cht Les Hautes Tuileries.

40% of the wine Chateau Les Hauts Conseillants ages in new oak barrels and the remainder ages in one and two year barrels of Chateau Bonalgue and Clos du Clocher, during 18 months.

TASTING & FOOD PAIRINGS

A delicious, fruit-forward, plump wine with loads of raspberry and black cherry fruit intertwined with hints of underbrush and licorice.
Excellent with red meats.
