The Chateau des Matards is on a particularly privileged site with the sandy lime soil of its vineyards dominating the magnificent estuary. The property lies opposite the most renown Medoc estates. Cabernet, Merlot and Sauvignon varieties grow on its gentle slopes. The grapes on the south-facing slopes are packed with natural sugars thanks to a perfect exposition to the sun.

VITICULTURE

Sustainable Farming: HVE3, Terra Vitis

WINEMAKING

The 20+ year old vines are harvested mechanically and the vinification is traditional. Fermentation happens at a temperature of 30 ̊C and macerated from 4 to 5 weeks. Ageing takes place in new oak bordelaise barrels for 12 months. The wine is finally bottled at the winery 18 months after the harvest.

TASTING 

It has a vivid purple color. The nose is intense with red fruits aromas and hints.
