ESTATE HISTORY

Since 1464, the Château Bourdieu ‘s vineyard extends on the terroir of the right river ofGironde.Today, belonging to the Schweitzer family, the vineyard presents 75 hectares in AOC Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux. Luc and his two sons Ludovic and Richard have the culture of vine, and the taste for work well done. lt is for that each cuvée is elaborated with much care and passion. We can find in each wine of Château Bourdieu ail the quality of the terroir and the quality of the great wines of Bordeaux. Château Bourdieu is a bold wine which enabled a bener understanding of the potential of each Terroir of Bourdieu. Its terroir is extremely well exposed and the richness of a very fine note of wood. A balance and stunning wine, faithful to its roots and to the vision of the winemaker.

TERROIR

Soils: Clay, limestone, gravelly
Located on Bordeaux’ Right Bank in the Cotes de Blaye region. The estates vineyards have a mixture of clay, limestone and gravel soils. Ideal for Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate covers 180 acres and the vines average a mature 35 years of age.

VITICULTURE

Guyot double pruning. Important prophylaxie working. Careful disbudding for a ventilation and a great clarity and development of the grapes. Manual stripping allowing ventilation in the fruit bearing part and green harvesting for more clarity and a best concentration.

WINEMAKING

Plot selection. Strong maceration, 4 weeks in temperature controlled vars. Extraction by punching down. Development ofphenolic richness and the complexity of the terroir.
Long ageing period, partly in oak. Quality control over the duration. Few racking and manipulation before the bottling. The objective is to preserve all the aromatic complexity.

TASTINGS & FOOD PAIRINGS

Richness and generosity. Bourdieu offers a beautiful gamet colour with intense renections. His expressive and complex nose, composed of over-ripe black fruit: Blackcurrant, blueberry, blackverry and fresh red fruits Strawberry and redcurrant and wonders griJled and vanilla notes. About the palate, it’s rich, structured and full thanks to round and silky tanins. Pairs well with game (deer, venison), poultry, beef, and veal.
