Corton Les Renardes

100% Pinot Noir

Region: Burgundy

The Gille family was present at Comblanchien as early as 1570. They are now the oldest family in the village. The estate as it exists today was built by Vivant Gille (1877-1938) and the vineyards expanded by Pierre Gille (born in 1947) and his wife Anne.

Very small production of this towering Grand Cru from the famous hill of Corton.  Iron-rich soil and 50+ year-old vines contribute to the great concentration and structure of this powerful and long-lived wine.

Ploughing, guyot pruning, free of pesticides and herbicides.

After 6 days of cold maceration fermentation, the alcoholic fermentation starts naturally without external yeast addition, or temperature control. Maturation lasts 18 months in fine texture, medium toasted, oak barrels (1/3 new barrels).

Deep scents of dark cherries and spice.
Fruity when young with violets and forest berries. “Les Renardes” delivers its full potential and complexity after aging for at least decade. After aging you are rewarded with notes of leather and earth. Experience a unique experience of delicacy and power, lingering long after your last sip.
Aging potential: 30 years
Share this unique Burgundy red with friends on its own. Or enjoy it with grilled meats. It is also an elegant complement to delicate Asian foods like beef satay and chop suey.

Temperature: Best served between 12°C and 16°C (54°F – 64°F)
