ESTATE HISTORY
In 1716, Château Bel-Air was born on the foothills of the Garonne river. More than 150 years later, in 1898, Martin Borderie, a wine merchant from the Correze region came to Bordeaux and acquired the Château. He was the great-great-grandfather of the current proprietor Roland Coiffe. In 1921, Jean-Eugene Borie was born, and he devoted his professional life to Bordeaux fine wines by renovating Château Ducru Beaucaillou and then Château Grand-Puy Lacoste. In 2005, Golwinne & Roland took over the estate.
TERROIR
The estate is 11 hectares of gravel and clay next to the Garonne river. The Semillon plots were planted in 1954 in red clay and gravels.
WINEMAKING
The estate has a modern cellar with 10 concrete and 4 stainless steel tanks, all thermo-regulated. The old barrel winery was also renovated.
TASTING & FOOD PAIRINGS
