Region: Loire
ESTATE HISTORY
Domaine Dagueneau is one of France’s most iconic estates founded by the late Loire Valley winemaker and sidecar racer Didier Dagueneau. Today, the domaine is run by fifth generation Louis-Benjamin Dagueneau, whose curiosity and drive have further soldified the domaine’s place in the upper echelon of the wine world. From the Pouilly-Fumé appellation but now labeled as Vin de France, this wine was known as Blanc de Pouilly-Fumé until 2017.
TERROIR
Soils: Kimmeridgian, clay-limestone.
The domaine is located in the village of Saint-Andelain on the very best terroirs that Pouilly-Fumé has to offer. The terroirs, the vines and the grapes are king on this 12-hectare estate exclusively planted with Sauvignon blanc.
VITICULTURE
Organic & biodynamic farming. Weather posts are placed strategically throughout the vineyards to help determine the best treatments and minimize the usage of copper sulfate.
WINEMAKING
All the grapes are picked manually and completely de-stemmed.
Fermentation in oak barrels. The wines are then left on their lees for 12 months and are racked into stainless steel vats, where they age for an additional six months on fine lees.
TASTING & FOOD PAIRINGS
Crisp, dry, elegant & minerally. It’s a full-throttle wine experience that we think merits some contemplative sipping alongside an assortment of cheeses, especially goat’s milk chèvre. Also pairs well with grilled fish.
