ESTATE HISTORY
Château le Coteau is one of the last family properties in the Margaux appellation. Eric Léglise today cultivates the vines planted by his family with the greatest respect for the terroir and the environment.
TERROIR
The vineyard is located in Arsac and is close to the vines of the grands crus Château Rauzan Segla, Château Prieur Lichine, Château du Tertre, Château Giscours and Château d'Issan.
Area: 12 hectares (30 acres) in production Soil : Gravel
VITICULTURE
fully plowed vineyard, manual suckering and stripping, no insecticide.
WINEMAKING
Manual harvest. Vinification: Traditional. Daily pumping over during fermentation (8 to 10 days). Post-fermentation maceration of 3 weeks.
Ageing: French oak barrels, a third of which are new wood for a period of 16 months. Egg white fining.
TASTING & FOOD PAIRINGS
92 points James Suckling
Tasting notes: Deep ruby. Perfumed and floral with notes of violets, lilacs. Soft, silky tannins. Typically soft, refined, elegant Margaux style.
Pais well with lamb chops, game (deer, venison), roasted chicken and grilled beef dishes.
