ESTATE HISTORY
The estate of the Jaubert brothers and Roland Noury, one of the pioneers of the Roussillon wines, appears like a balcony overlooking the Albères, the sea and the Canigou. The vineyard extends over 100 ha, including around sixty in one piece around a 19th century Catalan building, on the Planères plateau.
TERROIR
Soil: Plains and clayey-limestone slopes.
Surface: 30 hectares Yield: 45HI/ha
WINEMAKING
Vinification: Whole grapes for Carignan and Syrah; de-stemed grapes for Grenache
Gaec Jaubert: The winemaker. Fairly short fermentation process ensures a very subtle, easy to drink and perfectly balanced wine. To keep its young character, the wine is bottled in the spring and will mature in the bottle.
Produced on rigorously selected parcels with excellent exposition, this authentic wine expresses the true character of its unique Mediterranean territory. A base of Carignan and Syrah grapes vinified by carbonic maceration is then blended with Grenache, which is vinified in a traditional way. It is a very fine wine with strong aromas of ripe red fruits.
TASTING & FOOD PAIRINGS
The wine has beautiful vivid dark red colour with violet glints. Strong aromas of red fruits, reminiscent of ripe blackcurrant, fresh and concentrated, spicy and intense, typical of Mediterranean flavours. In the mouth it is round and deliciously fruited and fresh. Its attack is generous and sweet without aggressive tannins and very enjoyable. Excellent matter in the mouth gives superb length and smoothness. It will accompany spicy dishes, poultry and pasta.
