ESTATE HISTORY

The Gille family was present at Comblanchien as early as 1570. They are now the oldest family in the village. The estate as it exists today was built by Vivant Gille (1877-1938) and the vineyards expanded by Pierre Gille (born in 1947) and his wife Anne.

TERROIR

Grown in Vosnes-Romanee vineyards of limestone and clay.

VITICULTURE

Ploughing, Guyot pruning, free of pesticides and herbicides.

WINEMAKING

Manual harvest. Vinification starts directly in oak barrels. The barrels are new with fine texture, and medium toast. We gently stir the juice from time to time respecting slow fermentation, over the course of 11 months. This natural process allows the wine to reveal the entire complexity of Chardonnay. Honoring respectful winemaking philosophy we do not add yeast or chemical products.
