Blaye - Cotes de Bordeaux

2018

80% Merlot
10% Cabernet Sauvignon
10% Cabernet Franc

Region: Bordeaux

TERROIR

Magdeleine Bouhou is just east of the town of Blaye and this proximity to the Gironde estuary plays an important role in how the vines thrive here. Directly across the estuary from Pauillac, the right bank brings thermal regulation to the surrounding land, helping to prevent freezing and ventilating the vines.

Magdeleine-Bouhou is planted on clay-limestone soil, which is typical of this region. Planted here historically we have Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Cabernet Franc.

Surface planted: 15 Ha
Surface concerned: 6 Ha
Density of plantation: 5,000 pieds/ha
Average of vines: 27 years
Soil and subsoil: Limestone clay

TASTING & FOOD PAIRINGS

This cuvée expresses roundness and freshness. Its crunchy fruitiness makes it a supple wine with immediate pleasure. Drinkable from its youth, it offers good aging potential also.

Sophisticated and elegant, this wine pairs well with game meats, roast lamb, or hearty beef stews.
