ESTATE HISTORY
Chateau Le Caillou owes its name to the denomination shown on the land survey map of the vineyard. For over half a century, it belonged to the Belivier de Pomerol family, who sold it in 1975 to the Giraud Lucien family. In 1905, the "Domaine de Lacombe" was added to the estate, and in 1974 "Le Clos Lacombe."

WINEMAKING
Aging: 3 to 5 years
Vinification: The hand harvested grapes are macerated three to four weeks then fermented in concrete cuves. Aging is in oak casks for 12 to 15 months. One third of oak casks used are new.
TASTING & FOOD PAIRINGS
95 points Decanter
Baked plum fruit with sweet spice and hints of tobacco and leather saddle. Fresh in the mouthfeel, ripe warmth in texture and broad. Fleshy in the finish, balanced with lively acidity and generous tannins.
Pairs well with beef stew with prunes or beef stroganoff.
