ESTATE HISTORY

Château Lafleur Saint-Jean has a rich history in Pomerol, nestled between some of the most well- established names in Pomerol. The vineyard shares a plot of land with Petrus.

TERROIR

Produced on three plots located between Petrus and Lafleur Petrus on the high plateau of Pomerol. The soil is composed of very deep layer of red gravel, resting on a clay subsoil.

VITICULTURE

Modest in size, only 1.2 hectares, it is maintained like a garden. Everything is done by hand and around 20 manual passages are necessary between pruning and harvest in order to obtain perfectly ripe and healthy grapes.

WINEMAKING

The vat room is made up of 4 small capacity stainless steel tanks, thermo-regulated, the shape of which promotes excellent maceration between the juice and the marc. Aging occurs in 100% new French oak barrels from the cooper Darnajou. Lafleur Saint-Jean is  bottled at the property, without filtration.

TASTING & FOOD PAIRINGS

Rich, decadent with notes of chocolate, dark cherry, plums and spice, soft tannins and elegance.
Best paired with beef, lamb chops, game (deer, venison) and roast chicken.
