ESTATE HISTORY
Beautiful Chartreuse of Gironde, with a balusters porch, dated XVIIIth Century. Located at the intersection of 4 cities: Saint Emilion, Pomerol, Neac and Montagne.
After Jean Janoueix returned from to Correze in Bordeaux in the late nineteenth century, he was aided by his son to develop the family vineyard.
Beyond famous wines, François was able to pass on to his children, the greatest legacy of all: the love of work, the love of making high quailty wines and the passion to discover different consumer countries.
Today, Huguette Janoueix Lagadec, Bernard Janoueix et Bernadette Janoueix Gintrac and the younger generation have adopted modern wine making methods, while remaining faithful to tradition.
TERROIR
Surface: 14 hectares
Soil: Clay, strong and deep soil. Great success on draught years
One of the best "terroirs" of Montagne Saint Emilion, located half a mile from the biggest Pomerol Growths.
VITICULTURE
Sustainable farming.
We use natural fertilizers, the treatments are not systematic, but are made only when necessary and are adapted to the climatic conditions and the health of the vine.
The vines are fertilized with manure from cattle fed naturally without GMOs; the straw and hay used to make these manures are also non-GMO, of natural origin.
WINEMAKING
Aged 18 months in new French oak barrels.
TASTING & FOOD PAIRINGS
Elegant nose with a mixture of blackcurrant, cherry, vanilla, tobacco and pepper. Soft tannins with beautiful aftertaste.
Pairs well with roast turkey, corned beef and hard cheeses.
