ESTATE HISTORY

The Alain Aubert family come from the winemaking tradition of Bordeaux’s Right Bank. For several decades now, Alain, his wife Bernadette, and their three daughters have fine-tuned and perfected their craft.

TERROIR

Average age of the vines : 40 years Soil : clay limestone
It is located at Saint Magne de Castillon, near from Saint Emilion appellation.

VITICULTURE

Cultural methods: Selection of the grapes by plot, leaf removal, low yields.
Biodynamic

WINEMAKING

Traditional with a long final maceration.
Maturation: from 18 to 20 months in oak barrel of one wine. Bottled at the Château.

TASTING & FOOD PAIRINGS

Ripe and dense, but fresh, with silky-textured plum, blackberry and blueberry fruit carried by sweet spice and maduro tobacco notes. The fleshy finish shows nice drive. Should open up more with brief cellaring. 
Sophisticated and elegant, Château de Macard pairs well with game meats, roast lamb, or hearty beef stews.
