ESTATE HISTORY
Chateau de Respide stands as one of the oldest wine-producing estates in the Graves region, with viticultural records tracing back to the 17th century when it was owned by the de Respide family. A prominent chapter of its history occurred in the 19th century when the property belonged to the cousins of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec; the famous painter spent many summers there and became a vocal admirer of the estate's wines. In 1952, Pierre Bonnet took ownership and spent decades modernizing the facilities and elevating the quality of the production. More recently, since 2010, Amelie and Pierre-Edouard Kopp have managed the 56-hectare property, implementing sustainable practices and precise vineyard restructuring to highlight the classic gravel and clay-silica terroir of the region.
TERROIR
sandy-gravely soils sited on clay lower layer.
VITICULTURE
At Respide, successive owners and vineyards managers have always drawn a special attention to renew vines on a regular basis; pulling out when necessary and replanting after appropriate resting time. Thanks to this vision and constant care, today our vineyard offers a well-balanced distribution of the vine plots ages. The average rounds 30 years.
